Milton News 4 February 1933

Milton, Feb. 3 [1933] – As a result of the mild weather jonquils have been out for a week or more, also other flowers which bloom much later.

The Milton cemetery, as well as other places here, are greatly improved by the recent work done by those employed under the government fund.

The Book Club which was to meet Thursday afternoon, has been postponed a week.

Rev. W. S. Gordon of Spray, was a week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Moore.

Mesdames George and Hill Williamson, B. S. Graves and Lillian Pearson of Yanceyville, attended services at the Episcopal church Sunday.

Tom Angle returned Friday from a short trip to Washington, D. C.

Mrs. Fanny Thomas of Roxboro, was a visitor here Wednesday.

Dr. H. C. Chalmers, who has been confined to his home for a week, is able to be out again.

Frank Upchurch and Mr. Kirkland of Durham, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Thomas, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Warren and Mrs. J. A. Hurdle spent Wednesday in Danville.

Joe and Ralph Tucker were recent visitors to Winston-Salem.

Misses Mary and Lottie Tucker, Mary Hanes and Miss Mitchel of Raleigh, were week-end visitors of Mrs. F. B. Tucker’s.

Miss Annie D. Connally who has been visiting relatives in Greensboro, has returned home.

Mr. and Mrs. John Yarborough of Louisburg, N. C., were in town Thursday.

Among those shopping in Danville this week were: Mrs. E. D. Winstead, Mrs. Belle Taylor, Mrs. Lester Hanes, and Mrs. Sol Angle.
