Hollis Preston Bigelow (1918-2000)

Yanceyville — Mr. Hollis Bigelow of 287 North Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home. Born Oct. 14, 1918, in Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Fuller Bigelow and the son of Mr. Ullysses Grant Bigelow and Mrs. Hattie Graves Bigelow, both deceased. He was a retired long distance truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Graves Chapel Baptist Church Survivors include three sons, Mr. Ervin Bigelow of Yanceyville, Mr. Hollis Rice Bigelow of Burlington and Mr. Kenneth Bigelow of Winston-Salem; four daughters, Mrs. Clarice Poole and Mrs. Judy Corbett, both of Yanceyville, Mrs. Margaret Mitchell of Burlington and Mrs. Janet Royal of Greensboro; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Willard Bigelow.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Graves Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Walker. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Fulton Funeral Home from 7 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
