
Barbara, as she was called by many, was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Eta Phi Zeta Graduate Chapter in Chapel Hill, NC. She was an employee by the State of North Carolina with the Wright School in Durham, NC. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Louise Sims and one brother, John Lewis Jr.
Her survivors are husband, Clinton Shearin, Sr., of the home; four daughters, Marsha Kay Shearin, Kim Perez, both of Morrisville, NC, Monique Shearin of Raleigh, NC and Star Williams of Elizabeth City, NC: one son, Clinton "Chip" Shearin Jr., (Crystal) of Cary, NC; one brother, the Rev. Maurice Lipscomb of Blanch, NC; sister-in-law, Pagie Lipscomb of Reidsville, NC; two grandchildren, Cole and Maxwell Shearin; a beloved best friend, "Misty" her pet; brother-in law, Joseph Sims of Washington, DC; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Mrs. Barbara Jean Lipscomb Shearin will be Friday, June 4, 2010 2:00 pm at Hamer Baptist Church. Pastor Daniel Elmore will deliver the eulogy. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family may be contacted at her residence, 3630 Shewsbury St. Durham, NC and at her nephew and niece-in-law, Moe and Lisa Lipscomb of 3988 Slade Rd., Blanch, NC. In lieu of flowers make donations to American Heart Association. All arrangements for Mrs. Barbara Jean Lipscomb Shearin are entrusted to Fulton Funeral Home, 219 Dillard School Drive, Yanceyville, NC.
