Pelham (26 October 2010) - Mrs. Virgie Mariah Adams Smith of 3851 Chandler Mill Road died Sunday, October 24, 2010. As a native and resident of Pelham for the majority of her life, she attended the local public schools and was a retiree of the Unifi Corporation. She was a retired beautician for Pearl's Beauty Salon and was a member of the James Rudd Post No. 199, American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Spiritually, she was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Temple Community Church.
Survivors are: daughter, Phyllis K. Mc Cain (Barry); three sons, Steve R. Smith (Fran), Rodney Smith and Jerome Smith (Linda); special son, Larry Williams; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 extended grandchildren; 29 extended great-grandchildren; 10 extended great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Harrison; daughter-in-law, Dianna Smith; sister-in-law, Mae E. Harris; devoted friends, Thomas and Anita Williams; other relatives and a multitude of cherished friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday from the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 700, Ruffin with Pastor Roy Dennis and Rev. Timothy L. Warren presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family visitation will be Friday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are by Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville.
