David Carlton Francis, 80, of 285 Atwater Street, Yanceyville, NC, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Kindred Hosp-ital, Greensboro, NC. Mr. Francis was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on August 28, 1929, the son of the late Alexander Francis and Haddie Thompson Francis.He served in the United States Army, retired from Dan River Mills after 45 years service: he attended Friendship Baptist Church. He was also an avid gardener and lamp maker and he leaves behind a special dog named Jasper. Mr. Francis is survived by his wife, Frances Louise Francis of the home; 1 daughter, Susan Lynn Francis of Thomasville, NC; 4 sons: David Carlton Francis, Jr. of Burlington, NC; William Thomas Francis of Yanceyville, NC; Ricky Lee Francis, of Yanceyville, NC and Wayne Allen Francis of Blanch, NC; two sisters; Edna Sears, Virginia Beach, VA, Jean Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Cooper family cemetery with Rev. Billy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Marley Funeral Home, at other times the family will be at the home.
