Yanceyville, North Carolina: Kathleen Hicks Webster, 94, of 6845 N.C. 86 South, Yanceyville, N.C., died on January 5, 2011 in Alamance Regional Medical Center after being in declining health for the past two years and hospitalized for the last five days. Mrs. Webster was born in Caswell County, N.C. on October 11, 1916, a daughter of the late David Thomas Hicks and Onedia Bowes Hicks. She lived all her life in Caswell County where she was a homemaker and caregiver to her family.
Mrs. Webster and her late husband, LeGrand Webster, who died on June 6, 1978, operated the former Webster's Service Station and later, store for a number of years. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Leasburg.
Mrs. Webster is survived by two sons, Thomas Webster and wife Laura of Providence, N.C. and Hugh Webster and wife Pat of Burlington, N.C.; two daughters, Magdalene Shelton and Geraldine Fuqua, both of Yanceyville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Pam Milam, Calvin Webster, Wanda Webster, LeGrand Webster and Noel Webster, six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special caretaker, great-granddaughter, Brittany Milam. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday night at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Yanceyville Chapel, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and will, at other times, be at the residence of her sister, Magdalene Shelton, 6807 N.C. 86 South, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Union United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joe Jackson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Union United Methodist Church, c/o Geraldine Fuqua, 6845 N.C. 86 South, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379.
