Clayton Lincoln Miles, Jr. (c.1936-2010)

Oct 05, 2010 - 09:09:51 pm CDT: Burlington - The Miles family is saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Clayton Lincoln Miles Jr., on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the age of 74, of 614 Tucker Street, at the Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Delacy Thompson Miles, who survives, and the son of Mr. Clayton Lincoln Miles Sr. and Mrs. Lila Belle Love Miles, both deceased. He was a food processor at Rockingham Poultry and a member of Providence Baptist Church, Yanceyville.


In addition to his wife, of the home, survivors include two sons, Antonio L. Thompson (Catrina) of Fort Washington, Md., and Clayton L. Miles III of the home; two daughters, Linda C. Thompson and Debbie T. Hampton (Joseph), both of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Carl Miles of Yanceyville; four sisters, Mary Lou McCain of Yanceyville, Janie Belle Watkins of Blanch, Gladys Abbott of Burlington and Virginia Totten of Yanceyville; two grandchildren, Antonia Thompson and Amanda Thompson, both of Fort Washington, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, James Miles, Fitzgerald Miles, Lee Otis Miles, Jaycee Miles and Houston Miles; two sisters, Claudia Miles and Catherine Poteat; and one granddaughter, Latoya Johnson.

The public viewing was held on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 1 until 9 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington. The funeral was held at 1 p.m., October 2, 2010, in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Walker Jr. officiating. Visitation began one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Services entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington, NC.
