Milton, North Carolina — Mr. Raymond Slade, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Durham. The funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held today, Saturday, Sept. 25, from 12 to 7 p.m. at the Plenty Funeral Home Chapel. Born in Caswell County, Mr. Slade is survived by his wife, Precella Daley Slade; four children, Gladys Price, Brenda Chase and husband Hank, Shirley McCain and husband Robert and Raymond Melvin Slade and wife Edith; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Virgil Ingram. Mr. Slade was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board. He attended Caswell County public schools.
