Doris Phillips Lea (1938-2010)


Jul 06, 2010 - 08:58:53 pm CDT YANCEYVILLE - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Doris Phillips Lea of 1108 Hwy 158 East, who died Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. She was a native of Austin, Texas, the daughter of the late Elijah Phillips Jr. and Ardelia Johnson Phillips, born July 9, 1938. She was a member of High Rock Baptist Church and a beautician. She was married to John Lea Jr., who preceded her in death.

Her survivors are two sons, Zachary Wayne Lea (Lolla) of Matthews, NC, and Zelodis Bretton Lea (Deanna) of Raleigh, NC one daughter, Ms. Zaebethe Lea - Watkins of Burlington, NC; two brothers, Lavonne Phillips and Lawrence Jones both of Los Angles, California; one aunt, Mrs. Rosa Lee Smith of Austin, Texas; special friend, Bill Courtney of Greensboro, NC; 3 grandchildren, Chris Lea, Tyra Lea, and Lauryn Lea; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Doris Phillips Lea were Monday, July 5, 2010, 7:30 p.m. at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Donald Coletrane delivered the words of comfort. Family visitation was 7:00 p.m. Monday before services. A viewing was Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel. The family at other times was contacted at her residence 1108 Hwy 158 East Yanceyville, NC. All arrangements for Mrs. Doris Phillips Lea were entrusted to Fulton Funeral Home, 219 Dillard School Drive, Yanceyville, NC.
